Westminster between US-36 and I-25
Westminster straddles the Adams and Jefferson county line and is shaped by two highways. US-36, the Boulder Turnpike, runs through its southern and western half and carries the office parks, hotels and the new downtown. I-25 marks the eastern edge, where newer retail and housing have filled in north toward 144th Avenue. Older neighborhoods and commercial strips sit south near 72nd Avenue and Federal Boulevard, close to the B Line stop at Westminster Station.
That spread gives a commercial painting company in Westminster a steady range of work: corporate interiors, mid-rise exteriors, open-air retail, first repaints on newer apartments and specialty coatings in recreation buildings.
Offices along the Boulder Turnpike
The Church Ranch area and the parks along US-36 hold a concentration of suburban office space, mostly low- and mid-rise buildings with precast, brick veneer or EIFS skins. Tenants in these buildings range from technology and engineering firms to medical and professional offices, and they commute along the same highway, so lobbies, corridors and restrooms see heavy daily use.
Interior repaints happen after hours and between leases. Exterior repaints are planned by elevation and timed so parking lots are partly open at all times. For buildings with several tenants and a busy common area, our office and common-area painting is laid out floor by floor.
New construction on the old mall site
The former Westminster Mall, beside US-36 near Sheridan Boulevard, has been cleared and is being rebuilt as Downtown Westminster, with apartments, shops, restaurants and public space. New buildings like these are a different kind of painting job. Fresh concrete and stucco need time to cure, alkalinity has to come down before most coatings will bond, and work is sequenced around other trades still finishing.
General contractors on these projects usually need a painting sub who works from the architect's finish schedule, keeps up with submittals and closes out the punch list on time. Our step-by-step project process shows how that fits into a construction schedule.
Open-air retail at Orchard Town Center
Orchard Town Center, at I-25 and 144th Avenue, is an open-air lifestyle center with stores and restaurants arranged along walkable streets. Open-air centers take more weather than enclosed malls. Storefronts, metal canopies, columns and painted signage bands are all outdoors, and south-facing walls fade first. Repaints are scheduled before stores open, often one block at a time so the rest of the center looks normal to shoppers.
Pools, ice rinks and recreation centers
Westminster and the Hyland Hills park and recreation district run several recreation buildings, and private clubs and schools add more. Pools and rinks are hard on paint. Natatoriums combine warm, humid, chlorinated air with steel roof structures, and ice arenas run cold with heavy condensation. Standard wall paint fails fast in both.
- Pool rooms: epoxy or other high-performance systems rated for chlorine and constant humidity.
- Steel in pool and rink buildings: cleaned to a written standard and coated for corrosion.
- Ice arenas: coatings chosen for cold application and condensation, applied during off-season closures.
- Locker rooms: scrubbable, mildew-resistant finishes that tolerate daily cleaning.
This work overlaps with our high-performance coatings for steel and wet areas. We also take on projects in Federal Heights and in neighboring Broomfield.
